Hekla Volcano
Natural disasters nowadays includes earthquakes, floods, tsunami and volcano eruptions. They will all bring us harm, people may die from these natural disasters.however,we are very fortunate to be staying in Singapore-a safe and peaceful country. Among all the natural disasters, volcano eruptions are the most dangerous one.
Amid the icy atmosphere of Iceland, stand many volcanoes, fiery ‘gateways’ to the centre of the earth. One of Iceland's most prominent and active volcanoes, Hekla lies near the southern end of the eastern rift zone. Hekla is a stratovolcano located in the south of Iceland with a height of 1,491 metres .it had last erupted at 1991The tremor started first when the connection of the magma with the atmosphere was reached. It began in 17 January 1991, after a short warning time. it was also found that small premonitory earthquakes from 16:30 GMT on. At 17:02 GMT. The lava flowed to a distance of area of 23 km2. It flowed to a depth of about 6-7 m. The eruption lasted almost 53 days. at the end of the day, on 11 march, volcanic tremor disappeared under the detection threshold. It was also found that it was followed by a swam of small earthquakes.
The volcanic as were about 10m thick and found as far as a distance of 3000km away.
I think that the natural disasters are only the nature's punishment. It's high time for us to wake up and stop destroying our planet. I think that in state of emergency we should evacuate from the dangerous areas and and prepared for everything.
Governments from all over the world sent their condolences to Iceland.
